My current Micro Speed Scooter is now 4 years old, and I’m still loving it. But I don’t want to give away the outcome of this Micro Speed Scooter review and how it performs just yet.
The Micro Speed is renowned for it’s nimble, stylish, and smooth ride, mainly used for urban U.K. commutes and everyday fun. I’ve spoken to many scooter lovers and the Micro Speed Scooter always gets mentioned – but lets explore whether it lives up to the hype π΅οΈββοΈ

πββοΈExpert review by…

Hi I’m Jamie. I’m one of the scooter specialists for ScootersForAdults.co.uk. and I mainly review lightweight and fitness scooters.
I own 9 scooters, yes that’s a little obsessive, but I’m an amateur stunt scooter rider, and also scoot with my son most weekends. Having owned a Speed for 4 years now, hopefully I can do a good job at this Micro Speed Scooter review.
π§ What Is the Micro Speed Scooter?
The Micro Speed is one of the top lightweight kick scooters, designed for U.K adults who want smooth ride but without any bulk. It’s actually crazy how lightweight it is for an adult scooter, which is one of the main reasons I love it. On our best adult kick scooters guide it comes up highly and is the fastest and lightest at just under 4 kg, of the 8 featured – see the useful comparison table near the end.

I feel like Micro made this specifically for urban jungle living. I see it often around Bristol, where I live, mainly because it’s great for speeding round parks, but also handles pavements really well, and is super light for jumping on the train. ποΈ
Originally launched as the Micro Speed+, the rebranded βSpeedβ I think fits it better, and it’s popular across Europe and the UK.
Here’s a few snaps of my Micro Speed scooter. I made sure to take some as soon as it came out of the box. Obviously before I scuffed it up a little. It looks pristine and smooth. Wheels are small and light, the deck is wide, and the handlebars reach a great height. More detail on all of this below…

π₯ Who Is It Best Suited For?
Personally I think it suits most scooter riders, from general park runs to commuting, but I’ve tried to break it down for you here…
- π Urban commuters seeking a lightweight and portable solution
- π©βπ« Students & professionals desiring a reliable, stylish ride
- π§ββοΈ Riders preferring low-impact exercise with ergonomic design
- πͺ Parents scooting with kids on Micro scooters
- π΄ββοΈ Fitness enthusiasts using it for low-impact cardio
If you’re under 100kg (220 lbs) and want a lightweight, durable, no-nonsense scooter, I can’t recommend this one enough!
βοΈ Core Features at a Glance
- β Medium-sized 145mm polyurethane wheels
- β Integrated shock-dampening system
- β Adjustable handlebar height (73β103 cm)
- β Rear foot brake
- β Easy fold mechanism
- β Lightweight: approx. 3.8 kg
- β Max rider weight: 100kg
Below shows the kickstand and the easy-fold buttons, which are some awesome features on this Micro Speed scooter…

π¨ How Does It Ride?
For me I’ve got to say it’s: agile and pretty fastπ
The Micro Speed has ABEC 5 bearings and medium-sized wheels, according to my research, this apparently makes it deal for a smooth ride and offers a balance between speed and control. It’s perfect for short and medium distances, covering them with ease.
While it doesnβt have a full suspension, the shock-dampening system provides a smoother ride over uneven surfaces. It’s not as cushioned as the Suspension model, but around Bristol (and I have used it around London a few times) it performs brilliantly. ποΈ

𧱠Build Quality and Design
The Micro Speed is made with a smart design and you can tell that just by looking at it. It’s…
- βοΈ Exceptionally well-built
- βοΈ Quiet, minimal rattling or squeaking
- βοΈ Designed with sleek, minimalist style
- βοΈ Constructed with high-quality aluminum

Its folding system is so easy, and the locking mechanism is secure. I’ve never had to worry about it collapsing mid-ride. The rear brake is really responsive too.
Here is how to fold and unfold the Micro Speed scooter. To fold it simply unlock the latch, then press these two buttons in together and pull the handlebar down. To unfold it, just reopen the latch and press the single silver button on the right hand side. Easy!
If you want to see pictures of me unboxing it, folding it, and adjusting handlebars etc, check out our Micro Speed Scooter Unboxing & Assembly Guide guide.
π Portability: How Easy Is It to Carry?

Weighing just under 4kg, this scooter is one of the lightest around. This also makes it perfect for commuting and carrying with one hand. It’s light enough to carry onto trains or up stairs with ease, and folds in under 5 seconds.
It also has:
- 𧲠A kickstand for convenient parking
- π A secure folding mechanism to prevent accidental unfolding
- 𧳠Compact size when folded for easy storage
As mentioned, itβs one of the best scooters for transitioning between riding, walking, and public transport.
π§° Maintenance & Daily Use
The Speed is really low maintenance I’ve got to say. In fact I’ve barely maintained mine and it still runs as well as it did when I bought it. It is worth though regularly tightening bolts, keeping the wheels clean for optimal performance, and lubricate bearings – if you have the time!
The wheels are durable and easy to replace if they do wear out. And the deck is resistant to scuffs, and the grips are of high quality.
π¦ Unboxing & Assembly
I saved photos of when I unboxed the Micro Speed Scooter to show you. It comes almost fully set up, straight out the box it just unfolds, you adjust the handlebar height, and youβre ready to roll.
Setup takes less than five minutes, and everything feels solid and intuitive. Here’s what is included in the box.

I’ve pulled a bit of a summary together for you here of what you need to do for assembling your Micro Speed scooter.
But for a full breakdown, including pictures of me unboxing it, folding it, and adjusting handlebars etc, check out our Micro Speed Scooter Unboxing & Assembly Guide guide.
