I’m in love with this electric scooter, the Pure Air 4 Pro is one of the very best electric scooters on the market in the U.K. right now. But I think I’ve given away my Pure Air 4 Pro review and opinions already, so I won’t say anymore until we get into it!
You’ve probably arrived here cos you’re checking out whether this e-scooter is really as good as people say it is. It’s sturdy, has a long-range battery, and comes with patented steering stabilisation. It’s sold in all major retailers, front and centre, as one of the flagship e-scooters to buy.
So let’s dive in and see how it rates in this Pure Air 4 Pro review…

Hi I’m Jamie. I’m one of the e-scooter specialists for ScootersForAdults.co.uk. I own 9 scooters, a combo of electric and kick (and even one stunt) so I’m a little obsessed with them.
I’ve been asked to write my honest opinions of the Pure Air because I’ve owned one a number of years, I’ve scratched it loads, I’ve replaced parts, and I’ve overall really enjoyed it (aside from the odd ‘wish they made this better’ view).
🧐 What Is the Pure Air 4 Pro Electric Scooter?
The Pure Air 4 Pro is one of the flagship scooters from Pure Electric, one of the best-known electric scooters company in the U.K. right now. They are continuously pushing the boat out on what’s possible when it comes to electric scooters, and one model after the next is always an improvement.
Even though there are currently legal issues with driving an electric scooter on U.K. roads and pavements, where it’s currently not allowed, only on private property. This scooter still seems to be as popular as ever.
Here’s a breakdown of what you get with a Pure Air 4 Pro…

- 💰 Approx. £549
- 🔋 40km range
- 🛞 Big 10″ wheels
- 🏁 Max speed 15.5 mph
- 🚂 900W max power
- 💧 IP65 dust & water resistant
- 🚦 Front & rear LED lights / handlebar & footpad indicators
- 🫳 Pure Control steering stabilisation
- 🪫Charging time 6 hours
- 🪭 Folded size: 115 × 50 × 55 cm
- 🏋️ Weight: 17 kg
Even though most scooters come with a similar range to the above, there are some standout factors even before you actually test it.
The charging time is quick. We talk about this in our best electric scooters guide where we compare it against other e-scooters. The max power is strong at 900W, and it covers a brilliant range level of 40km. I’m convinced I’ve outdone that you know!
📦 What’s in the Box
So when I started to write this Pure Air 4 Pro review, I realised I hadn’t bought it in a while, so never detailed my thoughts for a box reveal. But I thought it was important to include here because you want to know what you’re getting and how it arrives.
So what I did was ask Mark, our other scooter expert if he was thinking of buying a new scooter and if so to buy this one and let me know his thoughts. You can see some of Mark’s reviews, such as the Micro Classic scooter review, and the Oxelo Town 7XL scooter review.
He told me that when you rip open the box it comes with…
- 1x Folded scooter with handlebars – obviously I’d be surprised if it came with more than 1!
- Charger & charging cable – plugs into any electrical socket, but do check your amps.
- Allen key + M5 bolts – for tightening existing bolts.
- User manual & warranty card – how do you register your Pure Air 4 Pro scooter? You can do so by following the instructions on the Pure e-scooter warranty page, it’s super easy and quick.
In his own words he then set the scooter up which was super easy, taking like 5-10 mins…
- Raised and secured the stem: I unfolded the scooter upright, engaging the latch mechanism to lock the stem into place.
- Guided internal cables and attached the handlebar: I threaded the internal wires before positioning the handlebar over the stem and aligning it.
- Installed and tightened the stem bolts: I inserted the supplied bolts loosely at first, then evenly tightened them using the Allen key.
- Inflated tyres and charged battery: I pumped the tyres to approximately 36 psi and started charging the scooter.
His initial opinions on the scooter and the set up were, and I quote…
“Pull it outta the box, unfold, sort the handlebar stem out and start charging it. I was super impressed when I opened it up and found a slick, sturdy, and well thought out electric scooter.
Really pleased I purchased this e-scooter, I can see why it’s so popular. Basically within the first 5 mins I started charging it, threw away the packaging and registered it for warranty.
After a few hours (yes I shoulda waited the full 6 hours charging) I wanted to give it a spin, so I took it out back, and it was fast yet really clean and easy to stand on with no lack of confidence on control at all.”

🧱 Build & Design
I’ve always been super impressed with the build of this scooter. It’s solid without being too heavy and it feels like a really powerful transporting machine, without, again, feeling too bulky or dangerous.
Here’s the specs in terms of build…
- Weight: 17 kg steel/aluminium frame.
- Water resistance: Full IP65 rating, safe in rain and puddles.
- Deck: New rubber grip, has more secure footing than previous models.
- Steering stabilisation: Patented Pure Control tech reduces wobble at speed.
I must say the steering stabilisation technology is very cool. They’ve patented it and means you get a smooth ride and you really do feel that it’s more stable than other electric scooters.

In terms of folding, it’s folding system is so easy making it one of the best folding scooters around – especially as an e-scooter which are obviously much larger than adult kick scooters, you need something that can fold easily.
How do you fold the Pure Air Pro? Just release the latch below the right handlebar. Then you need to pull up on the handlebars and secure it with the clamp on the steering tube. To fold it back again just do the opposite way.

⚙️ Performance & Range
In terms of daily use, I’ve got to say it performs well. It has strong acceleration without feeling out of control. It’s a super smooth ride up hills and doesn’t feel like it’s struggling, and I do feel like the brakes are responsive, even a few times when I’ve ridden it in the rain.
Here’s a summary I pieced together of the motor, the speed and the range. Although I mentioned it above I thought it important to show you the gradient and the nominal motor W.
| Spec | Result |
|---|---|
| Motor | 500 W nominal, 900 W peak |
| Top Speed | 15.5 mph (25 km/h) compliant |
| Max Range | Around 25 mi (40 km) |
| Climbing Ability | Up to 19% gradients |
| Brakes | Front drum + rear electronic |

Onto wheels now – it has 10″ tubeless pneumatic tires, which as you can see below are robust and I promise you deliver a cushioned ride. I’ve not has a puncture yet on this scooter, fingers crossed. Combined with the anti-wobble steering which I mentioned above, riding is both stable and confident.
Here’s a snap of my front wheel where I’ve placed some tape, which helps with evening riding visibility.
It has an IP65 rating, which ensures reliable rain performance. Full lighting includes front headlight (150 lumens), bright tail light, and turn indicators, which really give me peace of mind and work a treat.

🏁 My Honest Summary: Pure Air 4 Pro Review
The Pure Air 4 Pro is a robust, well-rounded commuter e-scooter that excels in comfort, stability, and all-weather reliability. While heavier than some rivals and lacking smart connectivity, its build quality and ride experience make it a top pick for adults seeking a dependable ride.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I’ve given it a 5 star, and I mean it. Ok there are some flashier models of electric scooters our there, yes. But, this one excells where it’s important, in range, in battery charging speed and in comfort. It’s a joy to ride, it really is!
